Re: Freedom of Speech on SI

Anyone who has joined SI, and who has accepted the Terms of Use as a condition of such membership, has accepted limits on his/her "freedom of speech."

Therefore, whoever violates the Terms of Use has no cause to complain of "censorship."

Nor has anyone else cause to complain of it, inasmuch as the "censorship" in question limits only such expressions of "free speech" that involve 1) advertising (spamming); 2) personal abuse; and 3) frivolous posting ("filibustering").

It was excesses in (2) that caused SI Bob to begin monitoring this thread in the first place. Nihil, you have not been a major offender in this regard, from what I remember. So if the axe fell on you, it was just the luck of the draw. Be cool.
