SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1997--3Com Corp. (NASDAQ:COMS), the global leader in network connectivity, today announced the newest addition of PC manufacturers and PC suppliers to join its major certification and branding program: the 3Com Network Ready program.
3Com launched the program in January with 19 supporting partners to lead the emerging network-ready market and in only three months has strengthened its partner list with 10 new partners, making end systems preconfigured with a 3Com network interface more widely available throughout the world.
3Com's Network Ready program provides the highest quality and most reliable client PCs and servers preconfigured for quick access to corporate networks while significantly reducing the cost of ownership. The program is designed to reduce costs associated with installation and configuration, freeing up valuable in-house MIS resources. 3Com Network Ready certified systems give customers the benefit of a single direct source for sales and support.
"The program leverages 3Com's technical leadership in Ethernet and Fast Ethernet," said Doug Spreng, executive vice president of 3Com Interface Products. "3Com and its partners are committed to building 3Com Network Ready systems that represent the best-in-class networked PC solutions. With 3Com Network Ready certified systems, customers benefit from the most reliable and compatible network connection." 3Com Network Ready Program Details
To become a 3Com Network Ready partner, PC manufacturers and suppliers must perform rigorous testing to certify compatibility and meet the following criteria:
- they must have the necessary 3Com network interface hardware and software pre-installed
- they must confirm the system works with a stated range of network operating systems
- they must have the necessary operating and diagnostic procedures to work effectively in a networked environment
In addition, 3Com Network Ready partners can leverage the 3Com brand by displaying the 3Com Network Ready logo on their products. As the recognized leader in network connectivity, the 3Com Network Ready logo validates that products carrying this mark offer unsurpassed quality and compatibility. Only 3Com network interface cards offer 3Com's patented Parallel Tasking architecture for greater performance and DynamicAccess features.
DynamicAccess software brings intelligence to the edge of the network by making 3Com NICs active network components that interact with other parts of the network to optimize network performance and control. 3Com also offers customers the broadest range of networking solutions, including industry-leading hubs, switches, and routers, along with 3Com's TranscendWare software.
TranscendWare software is the only policy-based management software that operates in a multi-vendor application environment so organizations can choose and integrate the best products in a "future-proof network" based on accepted industry standards to ensure interoperability in any network environment.
The newest partner additions include Cinet, Data General, Elonex, ENTEX Information Services Inc., Ingram Micro, Multimicro, Olivetti Personal Computers, Siemens Nixdorf AG, SYNNEX Information Technologies Inc. and Tech Data.
