Canary, I should point out that 'canary' is a compliment. I heard from somebody to the effect that 'they were surprised at me calling you a canary' as though I was being rude.

Just so people understand, Greg spotted Qualcomm before all the excitement really got going last century and on being called a 'Dellhead' by somebody, he [or maybe me] pointed out that he was like a canary in a mine, which warns of gasses and the Qualcomm SI crowd should expect a horde of people to follow him. Sure enough, a mob arrived and the informative pleasant little stream turned into a load of rot as informative and analytical posts disappeared in a torrent of muddy mess.

But, in compensation, we got a share price increase of huge proportions.

So, does one want a nice thread, or a wild ride into stockmarket Nirvana? [If a wild ride to Nirvana isn't one of those oxymorons - no I'm not calling Greg a moron you morons]. It seems impossible to have both, though Ramsey has done a good job [with help] in keeping the more egregious posts out of the serious Qualcomm thread - which seemed to offend some who want the right to write any nonsense they like.

It's a fact that to get seriously crazy stock price increases, it takes people [and their money] who wouldn't have a clue what's going on, but who really feel comfortable in a crowd, with cult leaders to lead them, burning at the stake anyone who fails to genuflect to the mystic leaders who make the incantations.

Don't try to reason with or disagree with these people. They are nasty, aggressive and violent.

I hasten to add that Canary is NOT in that category. He is just the marker for the arrival of a mob. We all know how ugly, ignorant and destructive mobs can be. Greg is thoughtful, analytical, investigative and pleasant - but knows that money is made from the mob.

So, to make it very clear, calling Greg a 'canary' is NOT an insult. I presume you didn't take it as such Greg.

Phew!
Hard work this SI stuff...

PS: We are going to get news soon whether we like it or not. Globalstar will soon [by the end of January I suppose] tell us how many minutes they are selling, and presumably, how many subscribers are using the system, though they will NOT tell us anything about individual service provider areas. That information would need to come for the service providers.

G* acting like Lwinski would be okay by me. They went for the low-priced mass-market and enjoyed a huge share price increase. The low-priced mass-market is where the seriously big money gets made. Globalstar might get there in a year or four when they hear about price-elasticity from somewhere.

Just for the record, anyone know how many shares Globalstar LP has and how many Globalstar Telecommunications has? You should do. The lead in to this stream is out of date now - GSTRF does NOT have 22% of LP.
