Any comparison to QCOM at this point is stupid!

QCOM has an ESTABLISHED technology which is in demand today (Hundreds of millions of units). The company has an established history of operation and making money for shareholders (ie earnings). Their entire business model is built around royalties and production of CDMA chips for cellphone.

Microvision's technology is not established yet, it incredibly complicated, is currently expensive and bulky, and the company and management doesn't have a true operational history.

While I agree that the POTENTIAL is there, the risk offsetting it is also so much higher than QCOM so it should not be valued similarly.

The key to the company is first commercial licensing the VRD/RSD technology which is arguably six months to two years away. If MVIS continues to drive the applications rather than having market participants dream up new applications and drive product development, MVIS will never reach its true potential because it doesn't have the resources to develop all the markets. (Rick R. admitted this - that the company had been spreading its efforts out too widely when a focused effort was needed to bring the technology to the commercial market.)

Was very pleased with the segment (though it was short, I predicted earlier that it was unlikely to be more than 5-10 minutes long). One thing I wish they had mentioned was the display resolution since the overlays seemed a little blurry on TV. Microvision was mentioned/shown several times; once in the dialogue and twice visually (one clip had a caption at bottom saying "Source: Microvision" and then the scene showing the front of the VRD helmet with "Microvision" displayed very legibly on it). I can see why the clip might have led to the cancelling of the WKNI press conference. (Of course, I would not have chosen to cancel the conference, but would have just postponed it - press interest is likely to be somewhat higher after the Dateline segment aired, but what the heck.)
