Santiago. I am a little confused by one of your statements to Alan. "I heard a comment that a person did not have a doctrine but Christ was their only teacher. Made me shudder!". The definitions of "doctrine" that apply to religion are; 1.something taught. 2.A principle or body of principles presented by a specific field, system, or organization for acceptance or belief: dogma. What do you mean by "one man's doctrine"? If you mean a mortal man then I thoroughly agree with the rest of your statement. If a doctrine is something taught, is there something wrong with Jesus being the One who does the teaching? If you consider a doctrine to be "...the body of principles presented by...an organization for acceptance or belief", what organization do you suggest that we believe. I do not ask these questions to argue but, to enlighten myself on your thoughts.
