Victor, I don't have any insight, but it's clear that:
-In 2/99, Amzn's $1.2B c-bonds were purchased by many genuine "investing groups". The total shares may be convertible is around 18M shares(9 presplit) and most of them are converted into shares already per SEC filings. Amzn got most of the "free capital" already.

The Amzn elephants are pretty much mutual funds..hedge funds..pension funds....all kinds of small/big investors searching for high return/high risk. We can walk away or we can play. What else?
