To all - reasons to dare to IGNORE the "naysayers" on Globalstar.

Here is my answer to some of the naysayer's concerns :

IF the nature of Globalstar's business model were to remain more or less the same for the indefinite future, then the doubters might have it right.

But, how much "intellectual capital" is required to predict :

1. G*'s charge to the service providers might eventually fall from the present level of 47 cents per minute (or is it 49 cents (?)).

2. Service providers might reduce rates from the current (roughly) $1.50 per minute.

3. The size and weight of G* handsets will shrink as newer models are developed.

4. The ability of the handset antenna to capture the signal from the satellites will improve.

5. The coverage "footprint" of G* service will grow.

6. Numerous additional data capabilities will be offered.

7. (As Dr. Irwin Jacobs of Qualcomm just said during a recent QCOM conference call --) more satellites can be added to the current 48 satellite constellation, if the system looks like it is approaching 100% of capacity.

8. The second generation constellation of satellites will have better operating economics (plus -- be launched at a lower cost, due to advances in launch technology).

********************************

In general -- my impression of the bears saying "don't touch G*" really translates to "don't touch G* YET -- until it is clear that G* has a viable business."

By the time it is clear G* has a viable business model, I would assume that the perceived value of that business franchise will be at least as large as that of any single (terrestrial) wireless carrier.

How much is the current bid for Mannesmann (the European wireless carrier) right now ? Last I heard, over $100 billion.

And that (I assume) is for just a portion of Europe.

Globalstar gets the whole world.

We shall see ...

Jon.
