LOL! Y2K bug miscalculates Groundhog Day...

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) -- Groundhog Day 2000 nearly fell victim to a computer glitch on a Web site devoted to the annual rodent ritual.

The Web site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club indicated this morning that it would be 397 days until Punxsutawney Phil next emerged from his burrow. His annual appearance is said to determine whether spring is imminent or will arrive after six more weeks of winter.

Groundhog Day is Feb. 2, or 32 days away, and the site correctly reflected that after about 10 hours.

"I'm basically new to programming is what it's all about," said Phil's Internet publicist, Alan Freed of Ambridge, Pa. "It took about a minute to fix. No big deal."
