Shorting is not only legitimate but very valuable as it puts a check on the unbridled enthusiasm of stock purchasers who would continue to bid up the price of a stock to beyond nose-bleed levels. They would be then blind-sided by a reality-driven event such as missed earnings, slower revenue growth, large insider sales, unmet promises and expectations, etc., and lose a substantial portion of their equity. This paradigm seems to happen all too frequently in BB stocks, with the added dimensions of lack of transparency, excessive promotion, sweetheart stock for financing deals, etc. Is it so wrong for the TRUTHSEEKER to warn stock purchasers of these perils? BTW, I give no one unqualified support and may have erred in my post if that was the impression given; to do so would be to put faith above reason.
