Though 500 deg C may be the theoretical limit, in practice it will be considerably less because SiC will chemically react with oxygen (or combustion by products if in an engine) at this kind of temperature unless it is protected, and because the melting or dysfunction point of an electronic assembly is that of the most vulnerable part of the assembly. Higher temperature functioning is still very useful if it reduces or eliminates long wire assemblies from sensors to data processing. These are expensive and error prone.
