For the most part, the questions you ask are determined by the rules of the court, e.g., what happens if you don't stand up when the bailiff says "all rise"? I don't recall ever seeing that in a statute, anywhere. The rules which apply to witnesses and jurors are state rules for state court, and federal rules for federal court. But if they aren't codified into statutory law, it's up to the judges to decide what dignity they think they deserve. Things like dress codes are definitely personal to the judges sense of decorum. If you look in the Texas code, look under the terms "witnesses", "jurors", "civil procedure", "oaths," etc. The code should be in your local library, at least in the main branch. If not, there should be a copy in the circuit courthouse. |
