1000% would mean a price of $450 this year. You better go shopping elsewhere Greg. Then again, a year is a long time in politics and even longer in internet time and even longer still in WWeb time. Bernie Schwartz said that Globalstar breakeven is about 8c a minute. Some others say it's more like 14c per minute. Wholesale prices range from 35c to 50c depending on whether fixed or mobile and which operator and how much they agree to buy. Terrestrial minutes are less than 1c per minute and getting cheaper quickly. They'll turn into IP packets and be cheaper still in a couple of years. Satellite [LEO] won't be cheaper than terrestrial for about a decade [if ever - fibre plus last kilometre cdma2000 links will be seriously cheap, which is good for Globalstar]. Now, here comes the Y2K trading in Globalstar. What'll it be? Continuation of frenzy derived from Qualcomm or is it just too much like Iridium and ICO and a bit of an unknown quantity? I bet a continuation of the preY2K thrill. Gapping up on the open. Money on the Y2K sidelines leading into the big bug risk will come charging out now that the coast's clear. They'll be hot for stuff like Globalstar. Q! too I suppose.
