If I may relate a true story I read that I was reminded of when you mentioned you couldn't respect a god who allowed you to mock him and yet made you healthy, wise...
There was this young christian man on his way to a meeting. As he walked a little boy of maybe eight came up to him and started cursing him, challenging him to a fight and so on. The boy was obviously very dirty and hungry and in need of a good bath and some food. The young christian man knew with one push he could send this boy flying and wondered why he would even attempt to pick a fight with him. He tried to reason with and help the child, but was met with continued cursing etc. Finally, feeling very grieved, he just walked around him on to his destination.
He went through a park and to his surprise saw an older man acting the same way towards God. He was cursing and challenging Him to come down and prove his Deity by striking him dead and so on. The fact that God didn't kill him made him think he proved his point of His non-existence.
As the young man related, he would have gladly fed and bathed the child if he would have only let him. In similar manner God desired to cleanse and bathe the older individual. The little boy was smelly and dirty from being in the streets too long. The older gentleman was also smelly and dirty from being in the "streets" of sin too long and was also in need of a good cleansing.
The fact that both were not helped was not because there wasn't help available, but rather that they just wouldn't accept it.
You Nihil still have time to allow God to cleanse you and free you from the bondage of sin. He will not force His way on you, anymore than He did on that man in the park. If you think you have proven your point by the fact that by his mercy He hasn't struck you down and instead blessed you with talent, then you are sadly mistaken. Your abilities prove that God pours out his grace even on the ungodly and unthankful, not that He doesn't exist or is too weak to destroy. His love for mankind is what delays his judgment.
But judgment will eventually come because He is also a holy God. Sin has to be judged. If you are not covered with the blood of Jesus, then you face eternity on your own merits. You can't win that way. To be free from sin, one must be CLEANSED from it and only God can do the cleansing. Allow God's mercy to produce holiness.
Although there is disagreement on this thread and elsewhere among christians, one thing is very clear and that is if you're not covered with the blood of Christ, you are under judgment. To paraphase Jesus to his detractors, He said that if He didn't know his calling, then He would be a liar like they were. "Let God be true and every man a liar".
Repent and see if God doesn't hold true to His word by making you a New Creation. |
