that's the difference between a "retail" minded brokerage who caters to what they consider the "less then sophisticated" investor, and a brokerage who deals with the "more sophisticated" investor....not my thots(your word) but reality....

i've used equity in positions over the years, even with the stodgy msdw to do what greg(mucho) has described, without any problem

surprised a pro and option expert like taxman who knows the ins and outs can't execute such a trade. sort of takes the bloom off the rose if you can't pick it!

what many fail to remember is that holding the majority of one's portfolio in purchased options, be they calls or puts, greatly diminishes their capacity, as option positions are normally not marginable.
