Re Japan - Japan appears to be OK after fixing computer default of their nuclear power plant. In fact Japan Y2K celebration never appears on TV screen like rest of the world. An announcer from a regional TV in Toronto (which is my home city) mentioned that they have lost signal from Japan due to communication problem. That's all I heard.
