Done the OR and So/Central CA. locales. SoCal weather is great, and I love the adjacent deserts. However, the commutes in LA s*ck big time. Ventura county is a nice place to live. Santa Barbara up to ~Santa Maria is also very nice, but right at the beach it seemed to be foggy quite a bit more than I initially expected.

When I lived in California, housing costs were much cheaper in Oregon, which kind of soured me at the time. However, since I've moved back, Oregon is trying to catch up in this department. Of course, Oregonians blame Californians for this; you know, all that California equity moving up here and paying ridiculous prices for any decent property "they" can get their hands on. :-).
