DownSouth - I was in a bookstore browsing this weekend....One year ago I would have bought a few of these books, read them, made some real blunderous trades, gotten even more confused, and gone back to "a balanced portfolio"
Yeah. I started investing/trading last June. Read "Stocks for the Long Haul" or some such, and the Motley Fool site. My first buys were four Dogs of the Dow :-) Month or two later, I said "Wow, look at NITE, down 25% at 45, great buy!" (oops).
I've learned a little since then, The Gorilla Game, The Intuitive Investor, Why Smart People Make Big Money Mistakes (who? me!?), and of course SI chat groups. Biggest thing I learned is how to filter huge amounts of good and bad data, smart and dumb opinions, into useful strategies and trading moves.
Sold QCOM this morning at 199, holding NTAP, various other G/K's, BtoB's, networks, and wireless, and resigned my $90k/yr job about an hour ago (my wife is flipping out! :-).
Going gangbusters into the new millenium !
