Ashton now joins his list of 20 picks for 2000. Mr. Kaiser and Ashton's relationship extends to before the Alberta play, which kicked off when Ashton discovered kimberlite at Buffalo Hills in January, 1997. The baron of bottom fishing tipped it a buy in December, 1998, at $1.10 and in October, 1999, at 50 cents; he also liked it when it was mainly a Northwest Territories explorer in April, 1996, at $1.15, and in December, 1996, at 96 cents, when it had set its sights on Alberta. Ashton topped $8 in May, 1997, at the peak of the Alberta play. In the current report, Mr. Kaiser calls Ashton a sleeper that must deliver the goods this year in order to refinance a treasury that is down to $4-million. The risk to bottom fishers is that its Australian parent will refinance it in the pennies. Drilling is planned in early January on targets in a new area called Caribou Mountain, as well as within the K-14 cluster. Drilling will also take place this winter in the Northwest Territories. |
