Greetings thread, and congrats to all CPQ longs! FWIW, I see an interesting situation brewing here with Compaq -- one that is not unlike Oracle IMHO. A few months back, when it became clear to the market that Oracle had truly embraced the Internet, and in fact, shifted its entire business paradigm to the Web, the stock lifted off; and it's still heading north. Compaq, although not a software company of course, has taken the exact same tact with respect to hardware (high-end servers and Web access devices like the iPaq), services and partnerships/equity deals with other established Internet firms (i.e., CMGI). In short, I think $40 per share is an understatement, and see an Oracle-type story unfolding. You be the judge.
