From this Sundays (1/2/00) Wall Street Journal. An excerpt of an article by Steven Swartz regarding a portfolio of 10 stocks for the next decade: "Finally, our most controversial pick. Monsanto recently announced plans to merge with Pharmacia & Upjohn. Wall Street doesn't like the deal because it doesn't offer Monsanto shareholders a premium. And, admittedly, Monsanto management hasn't executed its vision of moving from a stodgy chemical and agriculture company into a futuristic biotechnology giant. Nonetheless, we think biotechnology has a very bright future, and that over time, investors will be rewarded by advances in such areas as cancer treatment and genetically engineered food." Finally some good news (views?) on MTC.
