Read your own message just posted to me. Your condescending words give a clear indication that you think you are the first, last, and only word on Christianity. When you have toadies, like Chris, groveling at your feet, one can see where you might get such visions of grandeur. I said I did not believe that elders were chosen by God, or Jesus Christ, and have said nothing to change that belief. All elders are chosen by the ruling committees of their chosen denomination, or congregation. They are in effect minor politicians. I have known quite a few that are so dedicated to Jesus and His Word, that they have earned a great deal of respect from everyone in the community. I have also known many who have let the title go to their head, and try to place themselves above others in the church, and entire civic community. They walk around town, with their chests puffed out, and expounding on how pious they are, while the local distributor is delivering cases of beer to his garage in an unmarked pick-up truck. Do you really expect me, or anyone else, to respect such a person? I know nothing of your drinking habits, but expounding on how pious you are, fits you to a tee.---haqi |
