Actually I think you are misinformed.

The current USB is everywhere.

And firewire is available from Sony/Apple right now.

Looks like CPQ will follow and probably others.

Intel however for high speed connections has proposed a firewire alternative a USB 2 if you will.

USB 2 however is a long way from shipping.
