If somebody would make a handsfree car kit in which just about any cdma handset would fit, the things would sell like hotcakes. If any handset would clip in and if you could buy just the connector, then folks would find it economical to install the kit once in a car with confidence that it would not have to be replaced for every new handset you buy. Alternatively, if Sprint or other carriers would permit more than one handset on the same phone number, you could buy one just for the car and leave it there; use the other for carrying around.
