WALTHAM, Mass. (Dow Jones)--Parametric Technology Corp. (PMTC) expects to
report first quarter results below analysts' expectations, with earnings between
4 cents a share and 6 cents a share, including 2 cents a share in amortization
charges.

In a press release Monday, the company also said it expects first quarter
revenue for the period ended Jan. 1 to be 12% below a Wall Street consensus
estimate of $274 million.

A First Call/Thomson Financial survey of 10 analysts produced a mean earnings
estimate of 15 cents a share for the company's first quarter.

The company said first quarter revenue from MCAD licenses fell short of
expectations, adding that its sales force in the first quarter focused on its
Windchill product line.

First quarter revenue from its Windchill product line was $38 million,
compared with $4.9 million in the year-ago quarter.

In the year-ago first quarter, Parametric earned $42.7 million, or 16 cents a
diluted share excluding items, on revenue of $250.1 million.

Parametric, which provides manufacturing software and related services, plans
to report first quarter results on Jan. 18 before the market opens.
