REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 2000-- Fogdog Sports (Nasdaq:FOGD - news) today announced record order volume between Thanksgiving and Christmas, an increase of more than 750% over the number of orders placed during the same period last year.
Fogdog (www.fogdog.com) also led all sporting goods e-commerce sites in November visitors-outpacing its nearest competitor nearly 3-to-1, according to new figures from Internet measurement firm Media Metrix.
Fogdog was the only sporting goods e-tailer Media Metrix ranked in the top 100 shopping sites, with nearly one million unique visitors during the month. The total eclipsed the combined November traffic of Fogdog's three closest competitors.
``These results show that Fogdog is clearly leading the way for online sporting goods shopping in the new millennium,' said Fogdog CEO Tim Harrington. ``Despite heavy advertising by the other sites, online holiday shoppers were more attracted to Fogdog's selection, brands, information, expert advice and customer service.

The Media Metrix report follows a series of recent consumer, media and trade industry honors recognizing Fogdog for its excellence and superior customer experience.
Fogdog has been rated a Top 25 shopping site and the ``Most Customer Friendly' overall by Time Digital, is the overall Number One site in the Gomez Advisors Summer 1999 Internet Sports Store Scorecard, and is rated the best online sporting goods store in ten categories on BizRate.com.
In December, Fogdog received the ``Cyber Connection' award from retail management consulting firm Kurt Salmon Associates for investing to build and maintain a connection with consumers via the Internet and listening to and applying consumer insights to the cornerstones of their businesses.
KSA selected Fogdog Sports for rebuilding its site to focus on speed of transaction, providing tools to help consumers select the right sports equipment and mining consumer data to evolve its product offering and online experience.
