Fast Ethernet ASIC Solution Contributes to Rapid Growth of HP in Networking

MILPITAS, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI), the System-on-a-Chip Company(R), today announced that it shipped over 19 million Fast Ethernet 10/100 MAC ports in 1999. This constitutes a 35.4 percent market share, based on an anticipated 1999 industry total of 53.6 million Fast Ethernet 10/100 MAC ports shipped, as published by Dell'Oro Group during the third quarter of last year.
These results confirm LSI Logic's leadership in providing local area network (LAN) integrated circuits (IC) to the networking market. The milestone also demonstrates that, as a major supplier of Fast Ethernet chips, LSI Logic has been a key contributor to the rapid growth of both established and upcoming players in this explosive market.
