New Road Champs BXS 'Trick Stick' Bikes From JAKKS Pacific Have Strong Debut At Retail
MALIBU, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 2000--JAKKS Pacific Inc. (Nasdaq:JAKK - news) today announced that the company's all-new Road Champs BXS (Bike Xtreme Sports) has been enthusiastically received by Extreme Action Sports enthusiasts this holiday season, with retailers reporting strong sales nationwide.

Road Champs BXS exclusive ''Trick Stick'' bikes are to-scale miniature die-cast replicas of real BMX stunt bikes bearing brands such as Schwinn, GT, and Haro and extreme sports superstars Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist.

''The Road Champs BXS 'Trick Stick' Bikes are red hot, and are absolutely blowing out of our stores. We are receiving daily shipments and selling out immediately. We are thrilled with our customers' response and delighted that K-B Toys has established itself as the destination for BXS Bikes,'' said Tom Alfonsi, senior vice president of merchandising, K-B Toys.

The company noted that the Road Champs BXS line offers a wide assortment of authentic replicas of Haro, Schwinn and GT vert, dirt and freestyle bikes, complete with Trick Sticks, replaceable wheels, tires, pegs, forks, seats and handlebars all in real diecast and rubber. Each bike comes with a 3-in-1 trick stick that attaches to the bike and can be used to perform freestyle tricks, display the bike or use as a tool to interchange bike parts.

Stephen Berman, president and COO of JAKKS Pacific, stated: ''We are tremendously pleased with the strong response to our new Road Champs BXS line. We built these bikes to ride, giving bike fans an assortment of realistic stunt sites to perform their maneuvers, including a park bench, dirt rhythm section, stairs and rails that work together to form a customized Bike Park.''

The company also announced that Dave Mirra, who was voted ''Male Athlete of the 1998 ESPN X-Games,'' and ''ABA King of Dirt'' Ryan Nyquist, have entered into individual licensing agreements with JAKKS Pacific to develop two separate lines of bike and related toy products that will carry their names.

Berman observed: ''Since our Road Champs BXS 'Trick Stick' bikes are fully functioning replicas of BMX bikes, kids can perform the same tricks as pros like Pro Freestyle Rider Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist, which we think accounts for the success of the line.''

Founded in 1995 by Jack Friedman, chairman and CEO, and Stephen Berman, president and COO, JAKKS Pacific (Nasdaq:JAKK - news) is a recognized leader in the toy industry focusing on the development of brands with staying power, rather than a ''here today, gone tomorrow'' shelf life.
