JERUSALEM, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Intel Corp's plant in Jerusalem said on Tuesday it won a long-term contract worth hundreds of millions of dollars to supply Germany's Bosch with electronic control chips for vehicles. The Israeli plant will provide Bosch, the leading supplier of electronic subsystems, with chips for fuel injection, electronic control and ABS systems, the company said in a statement. "A major portion of the 2000 models of leading vehicle manufacturers, such as Mercedes, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari and Porsche will incorporate Israeli-manufactured chips produced by Intel Jerusalem," said Amir Elstein, general-manager of Intel Electronics Jerusalem. Intel Jerusalem production manager Dov Faust said the plant is changing its focus from Internet communications products to controllers for vehicle brakes and motors and control components for sophisticated machinery. This market has a long life span and will result in long-term contracts, Faust said. REUTERS Rtr 06:51 01-04-00 |
