Maurice, Re: <<The question which badly needs answering is "ARE HANDSETS AVAILABLE IN THE USA OR ARE THEY ALL SOLD OUT?">>

The issue is more complex than that. There are a multitude of US distributors - a partial list can be found at globalstarusa.com

Based on my (admittedly limited) research it appears that some distributors have been given phones to sell and others have not. It was reported on Yahoo thread (reliability?)that Airtouch alone had over 20000 inquiries in December not to mention all the other distributors. Based on this fact alone, I'm sure that ALL the distributors who don't have phones now including Seven Seas and GTE have a HIGH demand for them. Those that have them probably are selling them at differing rates depending on their target markets and individual marketing efforts. The 'sold out' question can only be answered on a case by case basis. I'll be happy if some are sold out and others are selling well and those that don't have them are chomping at the bits to get some.

I'll bet Globalstar USA (though I don't know it as fact) has distributed all it's phones to it's distributors and still has some distributors who don't have any (based upon my prior posts)and is beating the drum at Globalstar and Qualcomm for more at that level.

Regards, Dave
