NetManage and ICL Sign Agreement for Wireless, Mobile Systems Software
CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- NetManage®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETM - news), announced today it has signed a worldwide agreement with ICL, a $4.4 billion global IT services company, to incorporate new infrastructure connectivity software with ICL's Fujitsu TeamPad(TM) 7100 family of handheld computers. The agreement extends ICL's end-to-end solutions for wireless environments such as retail, route accounting and inventory management. Financial terms were not disclosed.

ICL's Handheld Systems group, which distributes Fujitsu handheld systems in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe, now includes NetManage Inc.'s PC/TCP Network v5.0, one of the most popular TCP/IP software products for systems running DOS on handheld systems. The software enables PCs to share files and printers, access remote applications, share resources and run distributed applications in shared Windows, Unix, AS/400 and mainframe environments.

''This announcement is an additional milestone in our refocused initiative in the eBusiness market. NetManage has teamed with ICL, in extending the reach of the wireless devices into corporate information systems,'' said Zvi Alon, president and CEO of NetManage. ''The new wireless devices enable ICL customers to extend the reach of their internal information systems by exposing the information to a large number of handheld devices providing an infrastructure for eCommerce.''

''This agreement gives users of handheld computers in wireless environments a way to easily integrate and connect among their other technologies,'' said Ron Omohundro, senior vice president and general manager of ICL's Handheld Systems group. ''We are offering the NetManage Inc. TCP/IP stack with TeamPad 7100 handhelds to help users easily integrate with existing networking technologies, be it mainframe, client/server or both.''
