Thanks for the post, Craig. I'm not suprised that TiVo is selling much more briskly than Replay.

A Replay representative says they take MS more seriously than Replay. I hope TiVo feels the same way regarding Replay. The value proposition offered by TiVo seems to stand head and shoulder above Replay. First of all, you get a lot more recording time per dollar. And from the corporate shareholder viewpoint, I'm still baffled as to why Replay is willing to write off an extremely lucrative market (delivering targeted content using stored preferences) and diversified revenue stream due to their privacy-phobia.

Also, TiVo seems much more focused on the service (and its subscription fees) while Replay is paying more attention to the product (the box). And I'm really not sure why Replay's VP of marketing said "it's kind of a waste of money (to advertise)" for this past Christmas season. In the meantime, the TiVo logo is plastered everywhere and selling many more units.

TiVo also has a leg up by tapping the public capital markets (and earning name recognition through its stock).
