i agree one shouldn't get wedded to quantitative analysis...however, just as stocks were way too cheap and oversold at the '74 and '82 lows (basically the starting points for this bull market, major and secondary low) when no-one wanted to hear about stocks, so we have exactly the opposite situation now. sure, the market may yet surprise us with another strong year. but the ingredients for a secular top are all discernible...when it comes, it could be a long time before it is regained. just look at Japan...btw, the inflation-adjusted Nikkei has yet to surpass it's mania top of 1912. sounds incredible, but is true.
