Mr. Jim Estill reports
EMJ will be partnering with SCO to bring resellers into the new Tarantella reseller
program.
On Dec. 7, 1999, SCO introduced the first offering in a new line of Tarantella
products. Tarantella Enterprise II allows IT professionals to provide instant Web
access to Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0 applications over the Internet using
Microsoft remote desktop protocol. It enables IT professionals to give users
anywhere access to server-based applications without the need for application
software on the users' client devices. Tarantella software resides on servers in a
middle tier, so no additional software is run on the application servers and their
stability and performance is not adversely affected. Unlike other products, such as
Citrix Systems' MetaFrame, the new version of Tarantella Enterprise doesn't require
users to make any modifications to the application server or the client. Tarantella
Enterprise II allows enterprise organizations to deliver and manage more
applications from more servers to more users faster than anyone else," said Peter
Bondar, SCO vice-president of Tarantella marketing.
"Tarantella is the first software product to integrate RDP into a comprehensive set
of Web-enabling technologies, offering customers a standards-based method for
accessing all of their Windows, UNIX system and mainframe applications."
Jim Estill, president of EMJ, said: "EMJ is pleased that SCO continues to innovate.
We are particularly excited about this new Tarantella product."
