Norton SystemWorks [VERIFY WRITES WITH SPEED DISK - 01/04/2000]

"VERIFY WRITES WITH SPEED DISK

Since Speed Disk's operational method is to move data from one spot on
your drive to another, it leaves open the possibility of an errant
power spike, a disk defect, or another problem sabotaging the process.
In the overwhelming majority of disk optimizations, this doesn't
happen. However, if you happen to have particularly sensitive data and
want to ensure the move's accuracy, ask Speed Disk to verify its
writes, just as a tape backup would do.

Select Norton Utilities from the Norton SystemWorks 2000 Integrator,
then Improve Performance and the Speed Disk button. In the opening
screen, click the Properties button, then Options. In the Optimization
tab under Security Options, select the Verify Writes box. Click the OK
button when you're done.

Verifying disk writes adds significantly to the time optimization
takes, but it guarantees that you don't lose data due to problems with
older or faulty disks."
