Hello! Well, I am a new lurker to this thread just purchasing some Tivo and there are a couple things that I you may find interesting- * Sony has an equity position in Tivo to the tune of 2.5+ million shares. (see 14g filing) * There was the press release defining the business relationship between Sony & Tivo. * Analyst commenting in article that Sony may be producing a Tivo product. (here is the interesting part) Last week I was on the Sony site and lo-and behold on their "new" products screen one of the captions stated something to the effect of "digital recorder" (don't recall exact caption) and the picture was a rectangular component looking similar to the philips Tivo product except more Sony-ish (grey and silver). Now when you clicked on the link it went to the LCD projector portion of the site. Personally, I think somebody in the web department ROYALLY dropped the ball and posted this without realizing that the product was not released yet. The webpage has since been pulled but the spot that I was referring to was in place of the zooming video-camera at the following link ( sel.sony.com )... Needless to say... I bought Tivo & Sony since then. Sony has the PC manufacturing experience, the video input and output experience, compression experience, and one hell of a following. Plus figure in the Playstation2 and potential tie-ins to a comprehensive entertainment experience and this company looks to FLY! Jeff P. Good luck to all.
