I suspect that GM originally went with FMKT because another GM [Glen Meakem] was the first one to show them how to apply an industrial strength reverse auction.

These reverse auctions give GM the chance to better leverage their bargaining power viz-a-viz their suppliers. No wonder GM chose to spin off their Delphi division.

I don't own stocks selling at 300 x sales, since I view such aberrations as unsustainable. Much safer to own GM, which as I said is the big winner in this space, as unfashionable as it is.
