25% of US Banks are going to buy new imaging equipment this year, according to an article I read this weekend. Paper checks will no longer be kept. Both sides will be scanned and the image will be the legal copy. The paper check will be destroyed. When you get a bank statement, a sheet of paper with many little check images will be sent to you. This is supposed to help the banks reduce handling costs. It will also be much easier for the banks to compile information re a specific check - the images will be catalogued, etc. Does anyone know if CRNRs inputaccel will be used in the process? Sounds like the right application for this. Sounds like a huge investment in new equipment for the banks. Article says that 25% of US banks will be operating the system by the end of this year.
