To see no difference means you have not done much DD.

Just for starters, look into the following:
-CDMA vs. TDMA Technology.
-Bent pipe vs. "smart" satellite
-Business plan using Existing Wireless providers as retailers/distrib.
-Partnering with major Technology Companies and Wireless providers, (QCOM, ALCATEL, FRANCE TELCOM, VODAPHONE/AIRTOUCH, DAMLIER BENZ, ETC.)
-Working with local telcos., not in competition with.
-Longer satellite life. (7-10 yrs vs. 5 yrs)
-Satellite reliability. (Besides the 12 G* lost due to launch dud, all G* satellites exceeding expectations, approximately 10-14 Iridium satellites had malfunctioned after being placed in orbit, requiring replacement)
-Lower cost to provide service, (8 cents vs. $1.05 per min. cost)
-10 Billion Minutes per yr. vs. 1 Billion available Minutes per yr.
-Plan to provide service to the "last mile" in under served parts of the world were regular phone service is unavailable or impractical instead of JUST trying to appeal to the "Business Traveller" and Adventurer exclusively. This is based on Iridium's higher cost structure.
-3 handset providers vs. just 2

Good luck!!!
