I don't know if this represents a true Y2K glitch, but on January 02, 2000, our hospital dictation system apparently tossed its cookies and began giving the date as February 08, 1936. It also screwed up the time-stamping but it was impractical to impossible to tell by how much. At midnight, by its self-assigned time-stamp, it dutifully rolled over to February 09, 1936. All had been well on January 01, 2000. FWIW, we were able to correct the date but had to do it individually for each patient report.
When I go in tomorrow, I guess I'll find out what explanation the company that manufactures and maintains the equipment has for us. I'm sure it will be a doozie, as said company representative had just certified the innards as being Y2K compliant--in person and in writing!
Maybe some mathematician can tell us why the computer chose February 08, 1936, from all the dates that have come and gone and all the dates that are yet to be.
Disclaimer: I am not discounting the possibility of human gremlins playing a prank.
