same problems as I*
Rocket,
If I understand right you miss one of the most important differences between I* and G*. I* tried to pick up the phone signal between phone and satellite. That requires high power. G* can do that, but mostly it sends to a ground station and from there between the phone and satellite. This means it works as well as I* where no ground stations are available, but works much better if you happen to be near a CDMA cell network.
