It really was bloody. As I noted on the MDA thread last week, the key to the scene was going to be the first few days. It set up for an interesting situation; there is a huge amount sitting on the sidelines and a huge amount of folks with some fantastic gains.

Which was going to happen first. On strength the cash was going to come in and on weakness the holders were going to sell. Situation definitely resolved!

OTOH, I've got the 38% retracement on OEX to be 738. The 38% retracement is totally normal in a healthy market. It looks like we will shortly determine if we are in a healthy Market.

Again, Congrats on your great success last year. I'm sure that the first two trading days of the year is not determinitive of the new century, however bloody. My conservative 50% commitment to cash in the Phleet is the only thing that saved me. Surely, the other 50% in AOL and SGP was not particularly helpful; yet, the sell-off bothered me not one iota. It is reasonable and expected.

Clearly, Kansas now represents extreme volatility. This too shall end?
