EMERYVILLE, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Shares of HealthCentral.com
surged 16 percent Tuesday after Lehman Bros. sparked investor interest
in the online healthcare site amid dynamic growth in the health industry's
Internet presence.

Shares (HCEN: news, msgs)climbed 1 3/8 to 9 3/8 on volume of almost
3 million shares.

Analyst Robert Rousse at Lehman Bros. initiated
coverage of the stock with a "buy" rating and set a
new price target of $30.

Lehman believes the company uniquely combines
in-depth consumer content with an online
pharmacy. The "sticky" content site has been
especially effective at attracting traffic from Dr.
Dean Edell's nationally syndicated TV & radio
programs.

The health care Web site, which provides medical
information and advice, was started by the radio
talk show host Dr. Edell and Preview Travel
founder James Hornthal in 1996.

The online market for the consumer side of the
health industry has become quite large and is
expected to reach an estimated $2 billion in 2003,
according to a Lehman research note.

HealthCentral.com is the only public company that focuses on both the
consumer content as well as e-commerce, via www.healthcentral.com and
the online drugstore www.healthcentralrx.com. The company's Epills.com
site allows users to order prescriptions via MediMail.
