Well Mo, when I went to linuxplanet, I followed a couple of path's. Now when I followed Linux Distributions there was no Redhat 6.1. Now I read some of the redhat review and Gee Redhat got 24 out of 25 stars in the ratings, yet the review railed on about gnome(I don't use it anyway) and about the open source rpm.(I use it at the command line). But redhat got 24 out of 25 stars. Corel got 24 out of 25 stars.
Redhat has 20% better value but corl has 20% better usability. What the hell does that mean????
Well for 4 bucks any can try both and decide for oneself.
These reviews are personal opinions and have little in the way of quantification. So to me, it's smoke and mirrors of verbal babble speak. The reviewer talks about rpm
"In and of itself, RPM is good technology, but it's failed to catch on beyond the Red Hat universe."
rufus.w3.org shows the extent of distributions supported by rpm. Suse and slackware have converter's to Rpm. So when I read I pass the ideas of the author by my experience and look for holes. I belive that redhat's RPM was and is a key simplification factor that greatly advanced the entire Linux cause.
There are no Debian distribuion RPM's Gee... Debian folks are religiously against RPM and other non debian heresy. Me, I'm a religous KISS guy, which is to say I have no Linux religion.
Debian folks do not take time to support rpm. Debian is a small percentage of Linux users. So it seems to me that debian users get saddled with having to use a munh more difficult older unix install technology that requires more skill to use. For Joe User, THIS IS A LONG TERM SYSTEMIC BARRIER TO USABILITY BY APPLICATION DENIAL.
Makes sence to me. Corel uses debian to hide from users other opensource applications that are as good as or better than what they charge money for. Corl sells and the consumer gets screwed.

Fact, Joe User will succeed or fail with Linux installation because of hardware compatibility and mostly in getting the xserver setup with the particular video card. Both products use Xfree86.
Gui and desktops are to me puff concerns about look and feel and everyone seems to have an expert opinion on what color the paint should be. Who cares??
