Greetings my brother Shalom;
Now I have to share with you that my understanding of the scriptures leads me to believe differently than your explanation of the Rapture being the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Luke 12, Jesus tells believers to be ready for His return. He concludes in verse 40 with this:"You too be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect."
Don't You See It?
The Lord tells us that He will come for us- the believers- at an hour that we do not expect! Now let me ask you this; If beleivers were around to see the emergence of the Antichrist, the invasion of Israel by Russia and the other signs of the end we expect to see during the Tribulation period, how could they possibly not be expecting Jesus to come? The Second Coming comes at the height of the most devastating global war in history. Any believer alive at that time would certainly be anticipating the imminent return of Jesus as predicted by the prophets. Yet Jesus also tells believers that He will come for us suddenly and without specific warning signs. We are snatched away before we even know what hit us. We are then taken directly to His Father's house where He has prepared a place for us. (John 14:1-4)
In the Second Coming Jesus gathers all survivors to the valley just outside the Temple Mount and there He separates believers from unbelievers. The believers remain on earth as mortals and re-populate the millenial earth in His kingdom. The unbelievers are cast off the earth into eternal judgement. (Mat 25:31-46)
Now if the Rapture had just occurred, there would be no mortal believers left on earth to populate the Millenial kingdom of the Messiah.
There is no way to reconcile the two descriptions of Jesus' coming apart from there being two stages of the Second Coming. The first is secretly for the Church before the Tribulation period begins. The second is public and with awesome displays of judgement as the Messiah Jesus comes to save mankind from totally destroying himself and all life on the planet.
And the first stage- the Rapture- could literally occur at any moment. It could happen today. Everything else that needs to take place could easily occur in the short interlude before the beginning of the last seven years or within that period itself. (This study is based on Hal Lindsays predictions)
Regards,
James
