Mani, re:"We will not let action of others decide our offerings."
I'll try and post some snips from tveyes.com (all from CNBC):
Breaking news on gateway over to joe kern men for that. Joe: I don't see a halt yet but i wouldn't be surprised if there was one. I'll get a quote as soon as i can. Gateway moments ago said it sees fourth quarter net at 37 cents a share, 7 cents below expectations, and talking about a revenue shortfall of, revenues of 2.45 Billion, that is below expectations, up just 6% over year-ago period. Citing processor supply issues, processor supply issues, so maybe a shortage of some components. Bill: The problem dell had for awhile. Joe: Also sales slowdown due to y2k. So that's all we know so far. I'm going to call right now and see what's happening, if i can. >> Thanks, joe, we'll catch up with you in a few minutes

The company saying that in warning, that fourth quarter net will be 7 cents below expectations, the company blamed that on y2k concerns which hurt fourth quarter business to business sales. The company says it's comfortable with first quarter estimates and year estimates for the next year, for 2000 and also said they are fixing these processor supply issues which also impacted their ability to meet their numbers in the fourth quarter.

I did speak to the company about this there is two interesting comments that they had out and i asked them to expand on this. The first was that they had a problem with getting chips. We have heard about this problem before and i said could you tell me more. What exactly the problem was. And the company told me that the suite spot was the 999 to 12.99 Price range that's where they make most money and apparently they could not get enough of the chips to hit the right price points there. Those particular kind of chips. |
