Michael -
I think CPQ is in the catbird seat here. First, they are Intel's biggest customer, so they already got a pretty good price and allocation. But they are also the only major vendor to have a big play with AMD. It would have been easy for them to shift the mix of XMAS product heavily to AMD - and I would expect that a threat by CPQ to shift the commercial line (currently all Intel) to AMD if there were any shortages would have been pretty credible too, since CPQ would already have the motherboards and chips on hand to make that switch. Intel is a pretty pragmatic outfit, and this might be yet another time when being dependent on Intel turns from asset to liability.

That shortage may have been the reason for the analyst warning about DELL 4Q profits also - but I would expect Intel to take care of DELL since they are the "poster child" for Intel.
