Aloha Rudy!

According to GTW:
cnnfn.com

"The company said the weaker-than-expected
business-to-business sales were due to Y2K concerns
at the end of the year.
"The Y2K fears appeared most prevalent among large
businesses and government and education institutions,
where sales declined approximately 15 percent in the
quarter," said the company's statement. "

Not a coincidence that these customers are where Dell is strongest, and Dell management and MD have said repeatedly that they see no slowdown in business in these areas do to Y2K or any other reason. I don't think GTW could very well have said Dell is kicking our butt in this space, so they just blamed it on Y2K fears.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe they had component problems born of standing in line behind Dell and CPQ, but I would be very surprised if that was the whole problem.

I also don't recall the last time Dell warned on or missed earnings. I think we'll see a bit of $$ come out of GTW and go into both Dell and CPQ.(CPQ as a value play, since the stock is, or has been until recently, quite beaten down).

As always, thoroughly enjoy your posts and value your opinion.

Cheers
Alohal
