Funny how two people can read the same book and come to entirely different conclusions. Imo the Millionaire Next Door avoided conspicuous consumption, budgeted to live within their means, and spent a fair amount of time figuring out how to invest the surplus. I don't see that as cheap or self denial; I view it as a mature approach to providing for their families and their future.
