I placed a limit order today for a NASDAQ stock. I saw the price moving away from me so I decided to cancel the order through the internet. I placed the cancel order at 10:57 ET. I called five different times to confirm the cancellation. The first at 11:06 I was told to wait a little longer. The second at 11:35 "we'll send a wire to US Clearing." 11:55 "That's why we want to begin clearing trades ourselves." 1:02 "I will call US Clearing." 2:11 "trade has been cancelled." All along I kept coming back to the "Trading Pit" and checking on the cancellation. I don't know whether this is a complaint against US Clearing or Web Street, but someone needs to get their act together.
