Chirimoya, the absolute best flavor. Here in the States at about $4 a pound. Never met anyone that did not love it.

With 14 years in South America in four different companies I would say ice cream is perhaps one of the most difficult products to copy. The quality of the milk is not the same and there are a host of other problems. Potato Chips are also impossible to copy. For starters the spuds are different and have too much water content. Packaging is also an issue even if you could get the chips made properly. Chocolate is a different matter and 3 of the 4 countries produced better chocolates than are common in the U.S.

I really don't think so on the flavor thesis. It is a very complex issue. Anise is a great flavor in South America, mainly in liquor, but licorice is hated. But, I have a difficult time telling them apart. Early on our taste are influenced by our cultures. I am willing to bet many would barff on the so called exotic flavors of the rain forest.

Even if the flavors were great I am sure any ice cream produced anywhere near the rain forest would be terrible. But, am willing to leave that to Ben and Jerry.
